French Parliament Set To Vote On Veil Ban

France’s lower house of parliament is due to vote on whether to ban the public wearing of the face-covering veil worn by some Muslim women.
The controversial bill is likely to be passed by deputies on Tuesday and the Senate will probably follow suit in September. Only three members of the Green party are expected to vote against the ban, while the opposition Socialists have decided to boycott the vote.
Polls show voters overwhelmingly support a ban, but France’s highest administrative body warned in March that it could be found unconstitutional and therefore thrown out.
The proposed law would make it illegal to cover the face anywhere in public and those caught wearing a full veil would face fines of $190 or be ordered to enroll in a “citizenship course”.
Men who force their wives or daughters to wear the full veil face a fine of up to $37,754 and a one-year jail term, according to the draft legislation.
Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president, said earlier this year that the full veil, such as the niqab or the burqa, “hurts the dignity of women and is not acceptable in French society”.
In crafting the bill, officials have sought to avoid singling out Muslims. While the proposed legislation is colloquially referred to as the “anti-burqa law,” it is officially called “the bill to forbid concealing one’s face in public”.
While officials insist the law against face-covering would apply to everyone, not just Muslims, they cite a host of exceptions, including masks for health reasons, for fencing, for carnivals and festivals.
The main body representing French Muslims says face-covering veils are not required by Islam and not suitable in France, but it worries that the law will stigmatise Muslims in general.
The veil is widely seen in France as a sign of extremism and an attack on women’s rights and secularism, a central value of modern-day France. Critics say the ban is a ploy to attract far-right voters.

Jim Broadbent would play Margaret Thatcher’s husband, Denis, for the British production.

The 2 1/2-month war was a turning point for the prime minister, who, after the victory, saw her approval ratings double and went on to win a second term.

Producer Damien Jones (“Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll”) came up with the story with screenwriter Brian Fillis.

If a deal is completed, the role of Thatcher would be the highest-profile character yet tackled by Streep, who has garnered Oscar nominations for playing real-life women such as whistleblower Karen Silkwood, author Susan Orlean and cooking guru Julia Child.

Lloyd, a British theater director known for her work in the opera world, elicited energy and brought out youthfulness in Streep in her feature adaptation of “Mamma Mia!,” which grossed more than $600 million worldwide in 2008.

Albie Manzo, It is said that Albie Manzo is facing troubles in the law school and he does not has the capacity to deal with the law things at all. Albie Manzo is the son of Caroline Manzo who features on the reality show Real Housewives of New Jersey.

Albie is 23 years old and is the eldest son of Caroline. He has a studying disability that means he takes more time to read the things and understand the things which are taught. He is a slow learner of the things.

He had to go through tough time in the first semester at law school and did not get a good GPA which he and his parents would have wanted. The name of the law school was not told on the latest episode of the show.

Actually somebody from the school said to him that as he could not learn quickly; he must look for his career in any other profession. This is not a right manner to talk with a guy who has learning disability. He must be motivated by his teachers that how he could do better in learning things more quickly. This loses the confidence of the boy and he will never do well in his studies.

His mother told him that he should not provide anyone the opportunity to tell him what he might do or cannot do. The talk between the mother and son was really an emotional one and no mother likes his child to be hurt by anyone’s comments. If he has the will to do law then he can do it without paying attention to anybody.
